A 4-Part Beginner-Friendly Jewelry-Making Series
Ready to learn how jewelry is made? This hands-on introductory metalsmithing series is designed for beginners and anyone looking to build a strong foundation in the craft.
Across four evening sessions, you’ll learn the essential skills and techniques used at the jewelry bench while gaining confidence with the tools and equipment found in a professional jewelry studio. You’ll work directly with metal, learn through demonstration and hands-on practice, and begin creating your own wearable pieces along the way.
What You’ll Learn
This four-part series introduces a range of foundational metalsmithing techniques, including:
Sawing and piercing
Filing and shaping
Texturing and surface design
Soldering
Polishing and finishing
Proper use of jewelry-making tools and studio equipment
Setting a Cabachon Stone

Your class experience doesn’t end when the weekly lesson does. Each student receives one “use it or lose it” Open Studio session each week throughout the course, giving you dedicated time to practice the skills you’re learning and continue working on your projects.
An experienced instructor will be present during Open Studio to answer questions, help troubleshoot, and ensure safe studio practices. Open Studio is designed for practice and independent work rather than instruction in new techniques.
Open Studio Hours:
Wednesday • 9 AM–4 PM
Thursday • 11 AM–4 PM and more! (see website calendar for other one studio sessions)
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE HOME
By the end of the four-part series, each student will have completed at least 2–3 finished jewelry pieces—and likely many more! More importantly, you’ll leave with a solid foundation of metalsmithing skills, hands-on experience at the bench, and the confidence to keep making.
