Meet Resident Artist Iveta Hristova of Honey Koshka!
1) How long have you been making jewelry?
I started making jewelry in the summer of 2019. I had a huge collection of sea shells & shark teeth that I'd collected over the years & I thought they were so cool & beautiful--I wanted to be able to take them with me & show them off so that's how I got into jewelry making!
2) Can you tell us about your background –how/where you learned metalsmithing?
I learned how to metalsmith here in Asheville at the Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry & Lapidary. I've also learned so much through the amazing community at Ignite!
3) Where do you draw inspiration from?
I'm inspired by our Earth & its creations. I majored in Geology, so I have a deep appreciation for the natural world--particularly gems, shells, & fossils.
4) Can you tell us a bit about your work/processes/techniques you enjoy using?
I'm definitely still working on finding my style, but I'm drawn to fairly simple, gold jewelry with an emphasis on the natural element.
